How to save on the collection of Movies on DVD
Movies on DVD are preferred by people for a various of reasons. Some of them make it a hobby to gather DVDs to add in their movie collection or some others feel like watching their favorites, over and over again. To have an array of movies on DVD is not like the stamp collection, as you need to shell out around ten to thirty dollars, every time you buy a movie. If you buy ten movies a year, imagine the total amount you spend on DVDs.
Here are some functional and interesting tips that I used to help me save a little money when I buy dvd movies online:
Tip #1
When you buy your next movies on DVD make sure you skip out the current block buster. Obviously, the latest movies will cost more than the older ones. Just have a little patience and watch the price automatically come down. Of course, you want to own the DVD so you can watch it any number of times, but purchase a version a little later than the release.
Tip #2
I usually search for the second hand or used DVD movies. There are people who never like to compile their DVDs, but will sell it immediately after they watch the movie. Take advantage of this and get the DVDs from them, as there will not be any compromise in the quality in the audio and video. And along with it, the cost is nearly half the price of the original DVD. This enables you to get double DVD, with the money you allotted to pay for a single one. In addition, I like to search through online garage sales, charity stores, craiglist etc. to find great and cheap selections of DVDs.
Usually, the rental stores of movies on DVD sell the DVDs when they are rented for several times. You can directly approach these rental stores. However, you have to be smart in the selection, as there are more chances of getting damaged DVDs. This is the place, where you can make some bargains on the price, to save a few bucks.
One of my hobbies involves watching new releases of the hottest trend movies. So, if you are like me, you should be the first to get the movies on DVD online instead of in a store. The reason why I buy dvd movie online during their early release is because the prices are cheaper due to the low cost of overhead. However, when the movie is gaining momentum at the box offices, the cost will go up! So do like me and grab them instantly after release.
The above strategy applies to the block buster movies and not the independent ones. When you buy the independent movies immediately, you have luck on your side as the price of the independent movies on DVD may be significantly lower.
