The Iraq War drama “The Hurt Locker” won best picture and five other prizes at the Academy Awards including best director for Kathryn Bigelow.
Depicting the day-to-day work of a USA Army Explosive Ordinance Disposal team, who do bomb disposal in present day Iraq, The Hurt Locker consists of a series of incredibly tense and accurately depicted moments.
I have to say this is as close as it comes to real without being right in the mix. The research done on making this movie was spectacular and is so well done that it covers each and every allowable unclassified information that one will ever see. The way teams work and live together were extremely well depicted.
In addition, the camera work was so well done with the Frag Zone, the blast that takes place and the destruction is breath-taking!
Director Kathryn Bigelow is one of Hollywood’s great action directors and is the first woman in the 82-year history of the Oscars to earn the top prize for filmmakers.
So kudos to the director, producer and the filming crew that captured it as close as possible in the day and life of an Explosive Ordinance Disposal technician.
